About Simone

DEI practitioner with a focus on inclusive communication and thoughtful facilitation.

I am an Inclusion Institute Certified Diversity practitioner, DEI consultant and inclusive marketing strategist.

For the past few years, I have been co-creating solutions to build more equitable and inclusive organizations. From guiding CEOs to create their DEI statements to facilitating intimate workshops that spark change, I provide a level of safety and accountability for all leaders.

I firmly believe that an organization that frequently and clearly communicates their values will retain the best and most diverse talent. As an organization, it is no longer acceptable to turn away from social justice, inclusion or advocacy.

I am passionate about everyday allyship and using intentional marketing as a channel to reflect the stories of a diverse community.

Experience + Education

Since early 2020, I have been working with organizations, non-profits and entrepreneurs on strengthening their values, creating actionable DEI plans and understanding allyship.

I’ve facilitated conversations with over 500 workshop attendees and have led nearly 100 conversations on the topics of allyship, inclusion, racism, and inclusive marketing.

In 2021, I received my certification from The People Company’s Inclusion Institute as a Certified Diversity Practitioner. This process helped sharpen my skills as a practitioner, build community of trusted practitioners, and create custom solutions for clients.

The core of my practice is built on a thorough competency in communication, race, gender, sexuality. I graduated from the University of Washington with a major in communication with a concentration in Black Studies.

My identity + privilege

I love sharing who I am! I am a Black woman with roots in the Bay Area and I call Seattle my home. I am the mom of 2 perfect humans and the wife of an ambitious leader in the shipping industry.

I understand that I have a lot of privilege, as a non-disabled, heterosexual, cisgender woman living in the Pacific Northwest. I leverage my privilege by volunteering my time with communities in need, donating to organizations that prioritize Black youth, and coaching seniors on how to grow their consulting businesses.

When I am not working, I can be found looking at soup recipes on Pinterest, watching reality TV or planning the next tropical vacation with my husband. I haven’t met a piña colada that I don’t like and I have a passion for makeup and styling my hair.

I am passionate about entrepreneurship and can easily talk about branding, social media, and TikTok challenges for hours.

My Core Values

My business is rooted in inclusive and anti-racist values. These are the rules I use to operate my business and life:

Joy

This work often does not center in joy and shows us uncomfortable truths, but centering in joy in my business and life helps me keep going.

Self- Care + Balance

A well-rested and balanced consultant is a high-performing consultant, so I prioritize all opportunities to rest and recoup. I encourage my clients to challenge themselves while also being mindful of their mental and physical health.

Forever Student

Life is always teaching us something new and it is my job to be an eternal student. I truly believe that when you stop learning, you stop growing. I don’t claim to have all the answers, but I promise to learn along the way.

Gutsiness

I enjoy taking chances, living authentically, and expressing myself boldly. That takes courage, grit and gutsiness. I attract like minded leaders who have the same mindset.

Inclusion + Community

Community has fueled me when I have been low on resources, motivation and purpose. I use my business as a vessel to give back to my community and to create more inclusive spaces.

On Diversity + Inclusion:

I believe in the power of inclusion, equity and anti-racism. All identities should be celebrated and diversity should be the foundation of every business. Whether you are Black, white, non-binary, LGBTQ+, disabled, neurodiverse, or a person of color, your voice and your life matters.

I pledge to be accountable, brave, and to do my part in dismantling systemic oppression for the good of the collective. I believe everyone deserves a seat at the table and deserves for their voice to be heard. If the table cannot be built, then it’s time to burn it to the ground and build a new one.
